Banquet & Finale

BANQUET & FINALE

WEDNESDAY 5:30-8:30 PM

"Popcorn or Milk Duds?  The Choices we make…"

For our final activity of the conference, let’s go to the movies !

Miriam Lerner has put together a thought provoking and memorable evening of film.  She will share her insights into the representations of deaf people in film, as well as challenge us to examine our collective history as committed educators .

You will be asked to reflect upon where you fit into the history that we are currently creating, and to summarize your thoughts and those of your colleagues, re: the definition of the "millennial student".

This session will bring the conference full circle.  You were challenged by the concurrent presentations, as well as the keynote addresses of Alan Hurwitz, Roz Rosen and Jon Levy, to consider the definition(s) of our current students.  Considering advances in technology and communications, as well as dramatic linguistic shifts, how they are the same or different than students in past decades ?

The schedule will approximate the following:

5:30  Welcome

5:45  Presentation (Miriam Nathan Lerner)

6:45  Dinner

7:45  Deaf Education in Clips & Summary Activity

         (Lerner, Quinsland, Mousley)

8:30  Conference Finale (Obenhaus, Mousley, Quinsland)
