"Gambolin' Round Reno 5K Run/Walk" Poster
Hi ho CAID Reno Runners/Walkers,
Peter Haggerty here, your rock 'n roll "racy" Race Director for the Teachers of English and Language Arts (TELA) 5k Run/Walk in Reno during the CAID Convention, "Educating Millennial Students."
TELA is very proud to bring to you this its 5th race at CAID conventions. Previous 5k races have rocked the great outdoors in Baltimore, Hartford, Los Angeles, and Minnesota. (To check out the T-shirts from these races go to: http://www.rit.edu/~pjhnce/TELA_run_T_shirts/tela_progrm_tees/index.htm)
Here then is just a short note confirming some details about the race.

THE TIME: |
7 a.m. (sharp!) Wednesday morning, June 27, 2007

THE PLACE: |
Virginia Lake Park ( a short 5-minute saunter from the Peppermint Hotel/Casino. More specific directions on where to meet and how to get to the Virginia Lake Park will be available at the convention.) |

THE EVENT: |
A 5k (3.1 mile approx.) run/walk.
|
|
THE AWARDS: |
Trophies to the overall male and female winners. Raffle prizes will include several DVD's of the "work-in-progress" archives of all past TELA supported publications, including volumes of "Teaching English to the Deaf," "Teaching English to Deaf and Second-Language Students," and "themes"; two DVD's of "Windows of the Soul: Magical Life Stories from the Deaf Community," a 2007 Pulitzer prize nominated drama, created by NTID's Dr. Luane Davis Haggerty and starring the internationally renowned Deaf magician/actor, Simon Carmel. |

THE AMENITIES: |
Post-race refreshments, including water, Gatorade, oranges, and bagels (if they make them in Reno!); race T-shirts with specially designed logos (guaranteed to pre-registrants); commemorative and official race numbers; copies of results and finish times; and digital photos distributed online. |

REGISTRATION: |
Race day registration will open at 6:15 a.m. and close at 6:45 a.m. Cost: $10 (T-shirts possible but not guaranteed to runners/walkers who sign up on race day.)

So pack them "sneaks," get your feet in a happy mood, and come to Reno prepared to "greet the dawn with a breath of fire!"
We are gonna do some "millennial" running and walking! Wahoooo!
